Pregnant dental nurse!

11 years 2 months ago #5726 by Ekw
Hi there

When I had 3 DNs all pregnant at the same time we met one to one to discuss any issues and to arrange to keep an eye on there duties during their pregnancy,
With regards to amalgam if you are wearing PPE and your surgery is well ventilated then that should be sufficient.
With sedation in our policy we left it to the discretion of the mum to be so most will step of that duty until after they return to work.
X-rays: we made sure they were always over 1.6m away if the clinician was taking any (this went for clinicians also)
If you have major concerns you should have a meeting with your senior or lead clinician.
Hope this helps at all.

Do GDP nurses have regular meets with their senior throughout their pregnancy?

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and a bit worried about assisting with an amalgam filling. How much can harm my baby? I wear a visor at chairside but i am still obviously getting the vapours. Should i be worried about it?
