How many Foramina/Foramen are in the skull

10 years 7 months ago #6109 by janet123
There are tons for formamen within the skull. Many if which we don't need to know. The mental foramen is the most relevant to dentistry, and i wont insult your intelligence by saying which nerve comes out of it lol. On the face you also have the infra-orbital foramen below the eye, and the surpaorbital foramen below the eye. There is also a small foramen on the zygomatic arch.

Most foramen are within the base of the cranial vault (the largest of which is the foramen magnum). This is the large whole that allowed the spinal cord and brain to be connected.

Hope that helps! :D
