gaining employment with no experience

Hi,

I'm trying to find a position as a trainee within a practice but i'm worried I'll be dropped to the bottom of the pile as i have no experience at all. Would this be a problem or off-putting for potential employers? Is there anything I can/should be doing to make myself more desirable in this area? I've already put forward my application to study for an NVQ course.
