BDA GOOD PRACTICE SCHEME HELP

10 years 2 months ago #6374 by krey
Hi.
I used to work for a practice who were BDA good practice scheme accredited.
We had our urine tested every year to monitor the mercury levels.
I can't remember the name of company we used, but they would send kits with a sample bottle and a personal questionnaire for each member of staff. We would then arrange a "wee day" and post the tests back.
Each member would then got a printout of their reading.

hope this help.
Good luck with your application. The hard work will be worth it!!

Hi all

I am looking at the self assessment tool for the BDA good practice scheme.... LOADS OF WORK TO DO!
One of the requirements states:

A mercury spillage kit is available and staff are trained to use it. There is a protocol for restricting contact
with dental amalgam and mercury.
Evidence
• Practice protocol
• Results of biological monitoring

My question is evidence for biological monitoring???? what?

Has anyone done the BDA scheme recently and what documentation did you have for Biological testing?

Hope you can help!
A confused PM!!
