Draining autoclave end of day cap on or cap off???

8 years 4 months ago #7786 by pink85pink
Thanks glad someone replied and does the same as me. I just wondered why all the other nurses kept putting it back on when I've left it off
My training was along time ago too so thought maybe it had changed and that the cap should be put on so nothing gets in to the chamber
I'll keep leaving it off for now then
Many thanks

Hi there pink 85
Well when I was training quite a while back we were always told to leave the cap off to let the tank completely dry out and I don't think this had changed I have an apprentice at work who state this is what is being taught hope this helps

Hi stupid question but when I drain autoclaves at end of day (little sister ones with the reservoir cap on top of autoclave) I've always left the cap off so the autoclave can dry and air out but many nurses put the cap back on making me think I shouldn't be leaving the reservoir cap off??
Which is the right way
