we have started using a tray system again, if you have room for that?

I get the trays in the morning from the cssd room and put them in the tray cupboard then again in the afternoon.

anything not used gets reprocessed at the end of the day

we write the date of processing on the tray liners

:)

So about 1 1/2 years ago we had our CSU set up and we bagged all instruments, dated and signed them and we keep them all min the drawers in the CSU and every morning we all go and get the instruments we need for the day and put them in our (huge) clean box with a lid and take them to our surgery, and as they are used the get sent down stairs to the CSU for cleaning re bagging, dating and signing and go back in the drawers.

Now since guidelines have changed and the instruments dont Have to be bagged if they are used within 1 week ( if not in a clinical area) we are going to change our ways.

The problem is what do we do ?

if we dont bag the items we are going to have a big box full of loose instruments and it will be a nightmare, i was just wondering what other practices do and see if we could use it ?!
