Oh I tell you, the things I have learnt now I have moved practice actually shocks me.
I was at my old practice for 5 years, and I left there not fully understanding why we did RCT.

There are SOOOO many abbreviations and it will change from practice to practice (KNA was one I hadn't come across before, which means keep next appointment!).

But, they aren't just limited to Exact. We also use them on R4, and it's just a quicker way for the dentist to make notes on any system.

Good luck with your training!

Thank you very much.

My training has been abysmal, and no one has explained any of this to me, let alone given me a list. A list would be amazing, but i can only dream of such things. :(

As far as I'm aware each dentist writes their own template so you need to ask the dentist you work with to explain.
We have a list of abbreviations and meanings for each new member of staff because it does get very confusing as everyone has their own abreviations.
Eg; c/o = complaining of.
OE; on examination.
EO; extra oral
IO; intra oral
ST; soft tissues.
OH; oral hygiene
TRIN; to return if necessary
TCU; to contact us.
I would bet that every practice has a variety of their own personal ways of shortening note writing.
Hope that helps.

I'm a trainee, can anyone help me with what all the abbreviations in the appointment note templates in Exact are?? In particular in the exam template. I know "RFA" is reason for attending, and "C/O" is complaining of. But the others?

There are so many abbreviations, and i don't know what they all mean. I tried looking it up online, but no info on this! :(

Please help!
